Our Mission
Frère Independent is a not-for-profit organization whose aim is to provide widespread visibility to artists. We focus on digital and video art, as well as outstanding artists that do not have gallery representation.
We implement our mission with two high-profile, highly targeted art exhibitions: where buyers, galleries and artists from around the world can come together to do business. Pool is an artists’ fair for artists by artists. DiVA is reserved for galleries that show a clear interest in promoting and distributing video and digital art.
Frère also offers to share its expertise, experience and business contacts with galleries, museums and curators internationally.
Partnerships
Forward thinking in the Arts
Global & Local Through a presence in Europe, the Caribbean and the U.S., Frère Independent is a pipeline to new business opportunities. Our art exhibitions, could help you market your brand globally to reach specific marketing and business targets. We are committed to building strategic alliances with a wide range of interested parties, from the art world and government departments to exhibition venues and events organizers. We strategically offer to share our resources, networks and contacts through partnership, and we would welcome an approach from organizations with similar vision to discuss partnership opportunities.
Government Departments/Agencies
Large scale exhibitions are a major contributor to local economies and play a key role in commercial development, particularly in emerging markets. They provide a shop window for regional and national industry, stimulating foreign investment in industry and infrastructure and facilitating technology transfer. They also create jobs and attract direct spending on hotels, restaurants, transport and local business. With our global expertise, resources, event portfolio, and local presence on three continents and islands in the Caribbean, Frère Independent is uniquely situated to assist and advise local and national governments on a full range of art exhibition opportunities.
Exhibition Organizers/Publishers
Frère Independent has developed expertise in organizing large scale exhibitions, publishing catalogues and developing websites in art markets, and we are keen to develop further partnerships. Such alliances offer both partners significant opportunities to introduce successful brands to new markets, and to increase international participation in respective target areas.
Projects
To implement its mission, Frère Independent organizes two high-profile, highly targeted art exhibitions The PooL Art Fair and The DiVA Fair. In addition to the two art fairs Frère Independent just opened its first art center in the island of Guadeloupe. The gallery is titled T&T Art Contemporain
DiVA Digital & Video Art Fair
With past edition in New York, Miami Beach, Cologne, Brussels and Paris, DiVA is the only art fair dedicated to video and digital art in the United States. Since the invention of photography, nothing has had a greater impact on artistic practice than the emergence of the personal video camera and, later, digital technology. Now, with the aid of computers, the camera and video camcorder have become the ultimate tools in creating a dynamic arena for art making,
regardless of the final product. With the advent of video and computer technology, artists are no longer restricted to their immediate technical parameters.
The first edition of DiVA Fair, titled “Moving Images” was held in November 2003 in at the Windsor Hotel in New York.
The PooL Art Fair
The simple, modest approach of the PooL Art Fair offers an exciting alternative to the “art fair” experience for dealers and collectors as well as the general public. PooL’s purpose is to create a meeting ground for outstanding artists, primarily those who do not have yet gallery representation during the major fair times of Art Basel Miami Beach and The Armory Show New York.
T&T Art Contemporain
T&T Art Contemporain is a Contemporary Art Gallery in Guadeloupe. Its mission is to compliment the already existing exhibition program in other venues of the island. T&T focuses on exhibiting artist of international stature and working with local institutions.
